From Research to Real Life: LymeLnk Partners with Bay Area Lyme Foundation to Bridge Science & Storytelling

LymeLnk is excited to announce a new partnership with Bay Area Lyme Foundation, one of the leading research organizations dedicated to finding solutions for Lyme and tick-borne diseases (Lyme+). Together, we’re working to close a critical gap: making scientific research accessible to the public through storytelling and human-centered education.

“Bay Area Lyme Foundation is focused on translating science into new and better options for patients, while also ensuring that knowledge reaches the people who need it most. Through our partnership with LymeLnk, we help extend the reach of our research to patients, caregivers, clinicians, and researchers alike, while fostering greater understanding of the challenges faced by patients and their families.”

David Walsey, Executive Director
Bay Area Lyme Foundation

Founded in 2012, Bay Area Lyme Foundation is committed to making Lyme disease easy to diagnose and simple to cure. The Foundation funds cutting-edge research in diagnostics, therapeutics, and prevention, empowering scientists and clinicians to advance discoveries that change patient outcomes. Bay Area Lyme is also known for its cross-disciplinary collaboration—spanning biology, immunology, and data science—to ensure that innovation in the lab translates into real-world impact. Through education, awareness initiatives, and strategic grantmaking, the organization has become a driving force in accelerating Lyme+ research nationwide, fueling innovation and amplifying the work of patient advocates, healthcare providers, and partner nonprofits.

Despite major scientific progress, research often struggles to convert into widespread public understanding. Bay Area Lyme already has a robust repository of educational resources, aligned with California State Standards for Health and Science and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) as published, all ready to be shared more broadly. As Bay Area Lyme continues to push the boundaries of discovery, LymeLnk brings a complementary strength as a communications partner to scale this information into the communities that need it most. Through strategic collaboration, we’ll translate complex scientific insights into clear, engaging content that resonates with real people—whether you’re in fourth grade or 90 years old. Our partnership bridges two essential sides of the same mission: Bay Area Lyme’s technical expertise and LymeLnk’s focus on public awareness and education.

The partnership’s first initiative launches in 2026 with the Elementary Institute of Science (EIS)in Southeast San Diego. The program will integrate Lyme+ education and prevention into STEM curricula for more than 2,500 students and their families. LymeLnk will co-design the campaigns with EIS educators and students, while Bay Area Lyme provides its research-backed curriculum. Together, we’re creating a model for how to turn research into education, adapted to community context and user needs, to increase Lyme+ literacy and prevention.

“Education is one of the most important ways we can turn scientific progress into real-world impact.Working with LymeLnk gives us an opportunity to connect research, learning, and lived experience in ways that can help people recognize risk, seek care sooner, and better protect themselves and their families.”

Jo Ellis, Director of Education
Bay Area Lyme Foundation

When a research leader and a design newcomer come together, the sum becomes greater than its parts. Iterating and refining the narrative through strategic design will help unify the Lyme+ community around a shared, evidence-based message. By combining storytelling and science, LymeLnk and Bay Area Lyme Foundation are one step closer to a future where prevention and awareness are second nature.
